Our Mission To provide a league for local players to compete at the senior level while ensuring and over-seeing an even and practical playing surface for all member clubs and players Our History
In the mid 1990's the idea of a local league for local players, for the South Eastern region of Manitoba, was tossed around. For many years some were talking and few were listening and most were uninterested.
Once again in 2003 the topic came up, and again with few interested, however three organizations decided to make a go of it.
In the back of a shop in Landmark, groups from Ste. Anne, Mitchell, and Landmark met and tried to determine the best way to start what is now known as the Carillon Senior Hockey League (CSHL).
The first year was difficult for both teams and players, due to excessive play against each other, but all knew that this first year had to happen like this. Little coverage, due to another established league in the area, so it was hard for the new league to get its message across.
People however were starting to notice, whether it was simply curiosity or genuine interest. This was demonstrated in the fall of 2004 when seven teams showed up to the organizational meeting. That year three more clubs, St. Adolphe, Grunthal, and Steinbach became members, bringing the total to six, and solidifying credibility and creating a larger platform to showcase the necessity of its existence. Now people noticed, and a goal that was set by three teams now became the goal of six teams.
Since then a total of eight teams have competed at one time or another, with the 2004-2005 season seeing eight teams, with the addition of St. Malo and La Broquerie when the HTHL folded after a successful 50 year run.
Currently the league consists of five teams.
